Mayor La Grotta Verde Grand Resort

Stayed at La Grotta first week of June. Fabulous place for the money we paid with Tui. Reps were lovely and approachable. Hired a car and saw some beautiful spots on recommendations from the Guest relations... Who's far from "blousy"!! Superior room in block 4 looking over the pool, just perfect nice and comfortable. Great choice of food , we looked the Italian Perla breakfast and Italian menu... Risotto to die for! Staff attentive and very friendly, beautiful waters and beach.what more can you ask for.. British people get a life and stop moaning! Spectacular time was had by us and we'll definitely be back. 5/5 from us. Travelling as a couple.

Hotel is set on a fantastic and peaceful beach with beautiful clear water ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Great selection of food and drinks and a number of bars and restaurants on the site. The restaurants over look the bay and there are stunning sunsets every night. Rooms were very large and well kept. Staff were fantastic and friendly throughout our stay, it was great to get to know them during our time here. There are also a number of small beach restaurants within a 10 minute walk which I would also recommend. The site is very hilly but is beautiful with flowers and trees planted all over the area. Would definitely recommend if you want a relaxing beach holiday in a stunning location. Few minor issues - despite the hotel policy about chair saving around 80% of chairs in the beach are saved by people very early in the morning who then don’t return for several hours which can be frustrating and may be able to be checked by staff better. The beach bar provides excellent drinks but in single use plastic cups. This must lead to hundreds of cups being binned a day. Perhaps reusable cups could be given each day with a small deposit and returned when leaving the beach to reduce waste.

The hotel is set in a lovely location with great scenery. The brochure photo shows it is high up and this is why you get the lovely views. If you have any sort of mobility issue then contact the hotel directly before booking as it may not be suitable for you. The main restaurant , leisure facilities and panorama rooftop bar etc are situated in a separate building and down a slope from the building with the reception. We saw fantastic sunsets and perhaps less sun early in the morning. Our room was clean and a good size. We had a table and chairs on the balcony which was actually big enough to accommodate relaxers and it would have been nice if these had been provided. There was a handy pull out drying rack on the balcony. We were on the second floor and occasionally experienced a drain smell wafting up but not all the time. We were just above the floor of rooms with plunge pools which I don’t think are worth the extra money particularly as privacy might be an issue. The hotel path runs very close to them. There was a fridge but there was a notice that you could only use it for things purchased in the hotel which was a shame. We had tea, coffee making faculties. Our room had a TV but we didn’t use it as channels didn’t really appeal. We also had a CD player there which we didn’t use. I don’t know if UK CD’s are the same zone as Greek and I don’t know if the hotel lend you CD’s. We made good use of the little library for reading books. We didn’t actually use the pools but they looked nice. The sea was fun with great waves. The sunbeds were very comfortable and we always found two together. We went at the end of May so maybe not their busiest time. The entertainment in the Panorama bar was good for us and we particularly enjoyed the Greek night. I suggest eating earlier that night to allow yourself enough time to get a seat near the entertainment. The entertainment did not go on until the early hours and so no loud music to disturb us when we were trying to sleep. We were relieved that the main restaurant stayed open until 9.30 on which meant we were able to get a proper meal on arrival from the airport. The all inclusive food was okay and you need to book promptly for the other restaurants. If you are just staying a week and your available eating times are restricted due to planned trips, you may not manage to get booked in them all. One evening we were frustrated that all inclusive drinks finished at midnight. I agree with some of the comments about all inclusive drinks. Service in the main restaurant was a bit hit and miss and some of it was down to poor communication about how the system worked. For some reason, other people seemed to be spontaneously offered a coffee jug and we got given just cups of coffee and then it was a pain trying to get staff attention for a refill. We should have been offered a jug each breakfast like others. There was also a bit of chaos over our wine order one night. We were given the wrong drinks and then no wine glass for my husband. If you leave your plate unattended for a few seconds while trying to find a member of staff don’t expect it to be there on your return. I can recommend going through hotel reception and booking the local bus to Corfu town and the one to Paleokastritsa (if good weather is forecast) as Tour company Reps may not mention these and you can have great days out that are not too expensive ( not excursions but just transport) I would have liked more Greek character in the decor itself. It was a bit bland and modern. We had a great time at the hotel overall and Some issues that we had that were negative were to do with our Holiday company rather than the hotel.

Ein rundum gelungener Urlaub. Wir hatten einen fantastischen Aufenthalt. Großzügige, saubere Zimmer, abwechslungsreiches, regional inspiriertes Essen.

We fly home today so while I wait for the sun I’ll write my review of the Hotel and Experience. Pros- The views are spectacular looking out from the hotel towards the sea and inland towards the woods and hills. The food is nice, hot and quick to be refilled. No fighting for sun beds and plenty on the beach to choose from. The rooms are spacious well presented and clean. Some of the staff are very friendly and cheerful. Swimming pools are clean, warm and inviting. Cons- It’s hilly which we expected, what we didn’t expect was a ‘free upgrade’ to rooms 100m downhill away from the hotel. Although after 3 or 4 days your legs get used to the climb! The selection of food in ‘the canteen’ is limited and appeared to be on a 3 day rolling menu. The waiters/waitresses are run ragged as they appear to be 3/4 people short, resulting in uncleared/laid tables, queues at the door and guests self serving drinks (frowned upon greatly). Selection of sun bed is important as parts of the pool area don’t get the sun until after lunch. Some of the staff are just plain rude/ignorant and not just to the guests. Number of times we saw a ‘manager’ verbally chastising staff in ‘the canteen’ in front of guests. The grounds suffer from lack of attention although they did strim the banking above 1 of the pools showering the sunbathers and pool with bits of twigs leaves and creepy crawlies. BRING JUNGLE STRENGTH INSECT REPELLENT you have been warned! And finally. It’s not 5* it’s a 4* at best. We’ve stayed in a few 5* hotels and this doesn’t match up. T

I have just returned from a weeks holiday with friends . We had a great holiday, food was good and bar and restaurant staff were attentive and friendly. Views are amazing . Hotel clean and well presented. All that said it really isn’t a 5 star hotel and given this is an all inclusive hotel we struggled to understand food being sold at the beach bar and some of the usual drinks included in a 5 star hotel weren’t and an extra charge was incurred . Our room certainly wasn’t up to a description of 5 star accommodation. Only water in the room too which again very unusual for a 5 star. Similarly bathroom and toiletries didn’t live up to that standard. We had a room for 3 and couldn’t believe that the 3rd bed was a rickety sofa bed . Which we finally got changed mid week. Tui reps I didn’t find particularly helpful throughout our stay when this issue arose. MOST IMPORTANTLY... On balance the positives outweighed the negatives and we ensured the negatives didn’t spoil our time there .

The views were stunning from the hotel overlooking the beach, good selection of food and drinks - Having to walk up a very steep hill if you wanted to leave the site to go to the village ,lots of bugs in the room ,the key card never worked properly once when we were there which meant contanstly having to call or go to reception to get another one ,

We had a great stay here in June 2019. We had been to the hotel several years ago and appreciated Guest Manager Dawn arranging for us to have a celebratory bottle of wine for our return visit. Thank you. We found the Reception staff polite and check in very straightforward. We were helped to our room via a golf buggy which can be summoned by phone. We booked through Tui which was very efficient. The Tui reps gave an introduction to the hotel. I think a tour of the facilities might be helpful (see map!) One tip from the introduction was Guest Manager Dawn explaining that the beds have orthopaedic mattresses and foam toppers are available on request, which made out stay much more comfortable thank you. As is mentioned elsewhere the views are fabulous and quite obviously this elevation means that the hotel is on different levels - there are a lot of steps. We had a room in the old block B1 (see map) which, even with a lift, meant there were still steps to the Market Area. The hotel was affected by power cuts on three days of our seven day stay - another reason not to use the lifts if you can avoid it! You wouldn't go to the hotel for the standard of this room (basic) and bathroom (tired decor and fittings) but it did have a nice balcony and who spends a holiday in their room? The two outdoor pools were clean and well maintained. It's a shame that so many people feel the need to reserve sun beds from 07.30 which is against the hotel policy but the policy is not enforced. Nevertheless we managed to secured beds around the pools and fortunately prefer a shady spot. Each guest is issued with a breach towel that can be changed every other day. We found the food in the main restaurant - Androniki - to be of a good standard and many other reviews seem really rather unfair. There was a good variety of meats and fish dishes and always a good supply of salads and breads available. Greek desserts seem to involve a lot of squirty cream but there was plenty of ice cream and fruit. There is a lot of chatter on TripAdvisor about the drinks. They are included so frankly not sure what people expect. The wine seems weak but we actually enjoyed that with meals. Steer clear of the brandy but the gin and tonic spot on! The Calypso bar area is bright and rather brash in the evenings. We preferred the Panorama roof bar area but that does become very congested around 9pm when the entertainment starts. Overall the music at the hotel is quite eclectic with some modern acid jazz at breakfast and the odd busts of "Una paloma blanca" in the evening! The resort has a great beach but we wouldn't recommend the hotel's part of the beach which was very congested, and not at all peaceful, with the music from the Tunnel Beach Bar. We found it much more pleasant to move along the beach for a swim. We suspect, in common with most hotels in sunny places, if you are not blessed with good weather you really need a lot of good books. Fortunately the weather was great for us so no worries there, although we did take advantage fo the €9 return trip to Corfu Town to break up the week. Overall we liked the vibe of the hotel which is mostly relaxed and the guests a great mix of ages all from different countries. If you aren't into people watching you will be after your stay! All in all great value for money. Thank you. Top tips: Pack a water bottle and/or coffee flask to reduce the use of single use plastic and polystyrene Take bug spray Ask for a top floor room if possible to reduce sound from neighbours. Book for the alternative restaurants as soon a possible in order to have your choice of days and timings throughout your stay. Explore fire escapes as short cuts to the pools! If walking to the village go via the beach board walk rather than the road which is narrow and has no pavement. Things we think the hotel could do better: The hotel information could probably be simplified and be more comprehensive at the same time. For example the sheets provided might be better to have all the information about the restaurants in one place! Provide a wider variety of genuinely vegetarian dishes by which I mean those containing protein. Ask the outdoor cleaning staff to be quieter in the mornings - its not the cleaning but the chatting that is noisy!

Our stay here in June 2019 was exceptional. We were slightly apprehensive about the food at the buffet, but it was extremely good quality and restaurant standard. The night entertainment was great evey night. Special shout out to Vladmiros in the Androniki restaurant and Pan in the Calypso who were welcoming and very talented at their jobs.

Views to die for but very hilly, lovely spotless rooms with plenty of space, food was ok, plenty of choice but could be hotter, definitely worth a stay provided you dont have mobility issues

I will keep this short but still give my honest opinion, The hotel has got some lovely views, food is good in the main restaurant and also in the others, that you need to book, the hotel others premium drinks but very limited, and if you don't ask for it by name, you only get the local, getting around can play on your legs because everywhere is on a hill, our room was cleaned daily however not very good, showed left dirty, only got one lot of shampoo and soaps for the week, you get a fridge in the room with one bottle of water, the safe is free to use in room. I have Been to other hotels in Corfu that are rated 4 star and give a little more than this one does for a 5 star, been the reason I only score it as 4 star, however if you have booked this hotel don't worry it is still a nice hotel with good food, good staff, just not 5 star.

Me and my boyfreind came to stay in June and we absolutely loved our stay. The weather was gorgeous so we were lucky with that but the hotel was brilliant itself. We couldn’t have asked for better views, the drinks and entertainment were good, especially at night; and the food in the main restaurant was brilliant, we were particularly impressed by Vladimir in the androniki restaurant, he made us feel very comfortable and looked after! We will definitely be returning next year, thank you mayor grotta verde!
